Columbia's entertainment district
known as "the Vista" was once the railroad center of the
city. An important passenger station was located here, as
well as numerous freight yards, and the streets were criss-crossed
with railroad tracks.
Now that this important part of
Columbia's past is gone, local businesses in the area try to
preserve this history by decorating their businesses in early 20th
century railroad style. These full-size murals near the
Crocodile Rocks and Banana Joes nightclubs are part of that
effort.
