Ebenezer Lutheran Church, located at the corner of Sumter and Richland Streets in midtown Columbia.  The first Lutheran church in Columbia, it was dedicated in 1830 and burned during the Civil War in 1865.  It was rebuilt in 1870 and is now used for Sunday school activities.  For more information, go to www.EbenezerLutheran.org.


First Baptist Church of Columbia was organized in 1809, and the original church was built in 1811 and destroyed in 1865 during the Civil War.  The present church, built in 1859 at the corner of Marion and Hampton Streets, hosted the Secession Convention in 1860.  For more information, go to www.FBCcola.com.


Columbia's First Presbyterian Church, on the corner of Lady and Sumter Streets, was organized in 1795.  The churchyard, a public place of burial dating back to 1798, is the resting place of many notable South Carolina figures.

The present building was erected and 1853 and has been remodeled several times after extensive fire and tornado damage.
